How to Use Discernment
Over the last year, there has been one huge lesson that I have learned- it is up to us to discern the truth. After years and years of being lied to by the news, doctors, and those supposedly in charge it’s becoming more and more apparent that we need to break free of this particular matrix. We all need to learn how to use discernment so we can figure out what is actually true and what is true to us.
For several years now, many of us have known to not trust the MSM or watch the news. However, most don’t seem to realize that is not the only place that fake news is injected into the population. Social media is being used now to spread fake news like crazy. It’s become even easier to realize this lately too. Whether it’s about health, nutrition, spirituality, current events, politics, etc you can see people talking about things that contradict other people now. There are so many social media accounts out there that are here to give us our “fake news” now. And since a lot of it is drama or fear based, it spreads like wildfire.
This is why it is now crucial for all of us to learn how to find the real truth!
How many headlines from official news sources have you seen that you knew were lies? These are the ones I can recall seeing over the years that started to make me trust the news less and less:
- That vaccines are safe, and anyone that questions them has a mental illness
- That EMFs aren’t a danger to anyone and you’re just a conspiracy theorist if you believe they are
- That the only way to lose weight is by counting calories and exercising a lot
- Counting calories is all that matters- it doesn’t matter if it’s from candy or fruit, it’s the same thing
- Nutrition plays a very little role in health
- Hormonal birth control is safe and has no negative effects on health
- Coconut oil is unhealthy (a study funded by The Canola Oil Council and The California Walnut Commission, plus a few huge pharma giants)
I’m sure I could think of even more, but these are all legit things I have seen over the years that we KNOW aren’t true. And yet they were being advertised as they were true. This is why discerning the truth comes down to us as individuals. We cannot just blindly accept things from anywhere as truth anymore.
They want us confused, they want us to feel unsure of ourselves, and they want us to just trust them because it’s the easiest thing to do. I’m not saying this to invoke fear either. It’s actually quite the opposite. When you start to trust yourself and discern the truth for yourself, you become empowered! We hold everything that we need within us already. If we learned to listen to our own intuition instead of relying on outside sources all of the time we would all be so incredibly empowered!
How to Use Discernment to Find the Truth
What does “discernment” actually mean? From Wordnik: “The act or process of exhibiting keen insight and good judgment.”
Discernment basically means using your own good judgement to determine the truth from a situation. It is an important skill to learn to make informed decisions.
Luckily, I have covered this topic in several ways before. My articles that could help include:
- How to Use Critical Thinking
- Your Intuition is Real- You Just Have to Find it
- Why Are We So Dependent on Studies?
- Intuition and Research are BOTH Important
Ultimately, the biggest question we need to be asking when we are trying to figure out the truth is- “who does this benefit?” Who benefits if you believe something that you read? Do they want to keep you in a fear mindset? Are they encouraging you to think for yourself? Are they calling people names like sheep, idiot, or worse? Or are they hoping you’ll buy something they’re selling? Do you actually BELIEVE what you’re reading? Who is sharing this info- if it’s fear-based, then it’s important to question if they are benefiting from it in any way.
It’s really hard to find legitimate information in the natural health world right now too. So many people are out there just for a quick buck or just for social media attention. I made an Instagram post on this the other day because it’s so hard to watch people fall for the scams- quick fixes, one pill magic “cures”, etc. Healing is much more complex than this and enough is enough with the lies and scams.
You are allowed to question things. The next time you see a post going viral let yourself analyze it and see if it actually makes sense to you!
Best sense I’ve digested all day and definitely confirms that I am not crazy at all
