Health Benefits of Beef Liver: Hormone Balancing, Increase Energy, and more!
So I have been recommending beef liver for several years now, and it still one of my favorite supplements. It’s incredibly nutrient dense and can help so many health issues.
BUT!
I know not everyone actually wants to eat beef liver. And honestly, that’s ok. As much as I love using food first, I understand that sometimes we have to make compromises. I think it’s easier to source a good beef liver supplement than try to get a good quality fresh liver a few times a month. It’s also easier to start slowly with capsules or powder of this potent food for those that are sensitive to new things.
Why should we use Beef Liver Supplements?
Beef liver is a very nutrient dense super-food that is a huge part of ancestral eating. While eating organ meats might seem weird to many people these days, our ancestors used to use ALL of the parts of the animal back in the day. They wouldn’t consume these things in large amounts daily either, which is why I think supplements make sense for this specific food. You’re getting a small amount of this power-packed food each day instead of large amounts!

Always start slow when introducing new supplements! I would never recommend jumping right into the full dose on the first day. For capsules, try 1 a day for a few days and see how you feel and then gauge how often you can increase your dose. For powder, start with just 1/4 tsp or so.
Important note: For our HTMA clients, we always work on gut and liver healing first before adding in beef liver. It can be hard to tolerate and utilize when the liver is stressed. We need these amazing nutrients for SO many purposes though- so we recommend working on some foundational care first before adding this amazing food item in.
