My Word of the Year for 2020

OH MY GOODNESS IS 2019 OVER YET?!

What a YEAR it has been. It seriously has been one of the most stressful years of my life, but boy am I glad that it’s coming to an end. Even though SO MUCH happened to me personally, I am thankful for the lessons as they have all helped me grow more as a person.

I made a recap of what MY 2019 looked like if you want to check it out here.

As we approach the new year and the new decade, I realized that I haven’t given much thought about my word for 2020. My word for 2018 was “better” and for 2019 it was “thrive”- and let me tell you, they really did set up a stage for me to thrive and be better. I’ve been picking a word of the year for the last 2-3 years now, and I try to make a reminder post to get others in the mood to pick one.

Why pick a “word of the year”?

Picking a word or short phrase for your upcoming year can help you focus on your goals and dreams for the future. Are you working on your health? Trying to save money for a new car? Hoping to switch careers? Having a word for your year can help to remind you to keep your eyes on the prize so to speak.

Your word can pretty much be anything as long as it means something to you. It might be something that just comes to you all of a sudden, or you can take a look through suggestions.

  • Health
  • Balance
  • Love
  • Less (as in less drama, less sugar, etc)
  • Better
  • Thrive
  • Abundance
  • Focus
  • Surrender
  • Strength
  • Happiness
  • Self-love

Once you have your word, make it easier for you to remember. Make it your wallpaper on your phone or computer, make a vision board, make it your FB profile picture, or if you are artistic create a painting or drawing for a wall at home.

My Word for 2020 will be…

As weird as this might seem, I am actually going to stick with THRIVE for 2020. Even though it is the same word as the last year, I feel like it’s going to *actually* be a better word for the upcoming year. In 2019, I made a ton of changes, I put in the work, and I set up the stage to actually thrive in the coming years.

I am a different person now than I was at the beginning of the year, in so many ways. So I am ready to thrive, and help others thrive as well!

Happy New Year!
