So I have been recommending beef liver for several years now, and it still one of my favorite supplements. It’s incredibly nutrient dense and can help so many health issues.
I know not everyone actually wants to eat beef liver. And honestly, that’s ok. As much as I love using food first, I understand that sometimes we have to make compromises. I think it’s easier to source a good beef liver supplement than try to get a good quality fresh liver a few times a month. It’s also easier to start slowly with capsules or powder of this potent food for those that are sensitive to new things.
Why use Beef Liver Supplements?
Beef liver is a very nutrient dense super-food that is a huge part of ancestral eating. While eating organ meats might seem weird to many people these days, our ancestors used to use ALL of the parts of the animal back in the day. They wouldn’t consume these things in large amounts daily either, which is why I think supplements make sense for this specific food. You’re getting a small amount of this power-packed food each day instead of large amounts!
Beef Liver can help with:
Balancing copper and iron levels
Balancing hormonal issues due to its vitamin A content
Providing more energy thanks to its high B vitamin content
Supporting your immune system
Keeping your cardiovascular system healthy
And of course, consuming beef liver is good for our livers too! Like cures like!
Best form of Beef Liver Supplements
I LOVE Perfect Supplements. Truly! I love them. They provide some of the best quality whole food supplements out there, and they actually care about their customers. I’ve been an affiliate with them for about 4 years now and they have always gone above and beyond with their customer service.
They offer 2 ways to get your beef liver in: capsules or powder. Most opt for the capsules since it is definitely the easiest way to get them down. A serving size is 4 capsules a day, but usually I recommend anywhere from 2-6 depending on what a person is dealing with health wise. You can find Perfect’s beef liver capsules right here.
For the powder, it comes with a handy scoop to help with dosing. This is even better if you’re trying to start super slowly with the amounts, or if you’re planning on using the powder in smoothies. I know, it might seem gross to use beef liver powder in a fruit smoothie! But you can- bananas tend to help a lot with hiding the powdery texture and the taste. You can find the beef liver powder right here.
My readers get to use the code SASSY for 10% off of everything on Perfect’s site too! So take a look around and see what else you might need- collagen, BioRay products, cod liver oil, etc. LOTS of great stuff to choose from.
Always start slow when introducing new supplements! I would never recommend jumping right into the full dose on the first day. For capsules, try 1 a day for a few days and see how you feel and then gauge how often you can increase your dose. For powder, start with just 1/4 tsp or so.
