My Basic Healing Tips

Sharing is caring!

When our health starts to fail, we tend to immediately look for a “diagnosis” of some sort, which gives us a basis for treatment. For example: adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, etc.  The truth is, these names are just given to patterns of certain deficiencies and imbalances.  There really are very little TRUE illnesses out there because most “diseases” are just a manifestation of nutritional deficiencies, toxic build-ups, and the effects of constant stress on the body.

These things can take years, decades, or even generations to truly start showing their effects.  The proof is to just look at the current generation of young children: cancer is the number one leading cause of death in children under 5.

Because most illnesses have the same basic causes there is a general course of action that you can take before you get into crazy, elaborate protocols.  For a majority of people, taking these steps can give you incredible results in a short amount of time (especially if you are only just getting on the path to natural healing).

My Main Healing Tips

This is the most underestimated healer out there.  We just need sleep! It’s not just because it keeps us happy- it helps us regenerate and heal, as well as helping us to eliminate toxins. If we are always on the go during the day and we aren’t sleeping enough at night, we simply cannot function well.  The first part of ANY healing plan should be to evaluate your sleep. If you aren’t getting enough because of your schedule, then it is time to cut down on things to take care of yourself no matter how hard this might be. “You cannot pour from an empty cup.”  If you are healing from any illness, you have to focus on yourself as much as you can in order to truly heal.  This may be hard for a lot of people but it is crucial!

If you having any trouble sleeping, there are a variety of reasons why this could be happening. Read my post on how to bust insomnia here.  You can also check out this article from ARL about the importance of sleep.

I also have my post with 25 suggestions on how to get a better sleep here. Anything you can do to start getting better sleep will be a step in the right direction.

Now I’m not talking about the usual concept of diet that we have- calorie counting, juice fasts, and cabbage soup diets.  I’m talking about cutting out the crap food and healing your gut. The basics of gut healing include restoring stomach acid, healing the gut lining, repopulating good bacteria, finding food intolerances, and getting rid of parasites, yeast, and any possible underlying infection you may have.

Read all about gut healing here.

There are many types of diets out there and I don’t advocate any specific one.  I prefer to recommend a whole foods, balanced diet filled with as many organic and/or local foods as possible.  I like the concept of the WAPF and how they look at nutrition.  Fats are not the enemy, grains should be properly prepared, and good sugars should be used in moderation.  Everyone has different intolerances and appetites so not everyone will thrive on the same exact diet. The most important step is to first HEAL your gut and then see what foods you will truly be able to tolerate.

Here is my list of what foods have which nutrients so you can get the most out of your diet.

We cannot live without minerals. Most people have multiple mineral deficiencies now because our soils have been depleted for nearly 100 years now. This is why so many people are suffering from so many illnesses.  Minerals are responsible for the enzyme reactions in our bodies and enzymes RUN the body.

Minerals are known as the spark plugs of life- we cannot look at them like we look at pharmaceuticals that are created for specific illnesses. If you have a symptom like anxiety or constipation, and you tried one isolated mineral and it didn’t work for you, then you are probably lacking in the co-factors of that nutrient as well OR you have other imbalances going on. Plus it is essential to focus on gut health (especially increasing stomach acid) so we can absorb and utilize our nutrients properly.

So many minerals are needed for certain symptoms, like insomnia, anxiety, and depression: we need multiple minerals for complete function- this is why proper testing is so essential to figure out your personal imbalances.

You can read my massive mineral post here. Copper dysregulation is one of the most common mineral imbalances- read about what it is, how to test for it, and how to treat it here.

Stress Management

Stress is inevitable in life, but there are many ways that we can learn to handle stress.  Since chronic stress is so damaging to our health, we can actually lose important nutrients like magnesium and zinc when we are under stress. Our adrenals take the biggest hit from stress- the HTMA can show you how your adrenals are handling everything too! Here are some tips for stress management:

  1. Yoga- everyone knows about yoga, but not everyone likes doing it.  Yoga has been one of the most popular ways to help de-stress for a long time.  Even finding a few yoga positions that help you can help immensely. I like legs-on-the-wall, child’s pose, cat-and-cow, and corpse pose
  2. EFT (aka Tapping)- Emotional Freedom technique is not new, but it has been garnering a lot of attention over the last few years in the natural health field. This method used meridian tapping to harness your body’s energy to heal itself
  3. Buteyko breathing- A friend introduced me to this method this year, and I will forever be grateful.  It truly is a great way to calm yourself down before bed, or if you wake up in the middle of the night. It actually helps the healing of a lot of different ailments as well!
  4. Find a hobby- this is probably the simplest method to help stress, but it is the most overlooked.  Find something that you love to do and try to do it daily.  Reading, writing, drawing, painting, walking, bike riding, photography, anything you can think of that will get you away from the TV and off of the couch.
  5. Gratitude– It can be hard to appreciate what you have when you are ill or healing from an illness. But it can be a very helpful way to aid your healing process.

Liver, Lymph and Adrenals

Many “experts” out there think that supporting detoxification is a bad concept.  They claim that we are always detoxifying so there is no need for any special support. The truth is that after a lifetime of junk food, inactivity, pharmaceutical use, and stress we can all use a lot of boosting to our livers and lymph system.  Many people carry extra toxins like pesticides, parasites, yeast, harmful bacteria, heavy metals, and even dormant infections.  When we start addressing the imbalances that we have, a lot of people need extra support to help the body eliminate these toxins.

Read about how we should love our livers in this post.

For the lymph system, there are many ways to help get it moving. Rebounding is the number one most effective way to move your lymph.  Read about more ways in this post here!

Our adrenals are also a very important organ to address.  Adrenal fatigue is the result of mineral imbalances, stress, and a toxic burden on the body.  Read all about adrenal fatigue in this post of mine.

So there you have it! All of my major health tips in one place.  Sleep, diet, minerals, stress, and the liver, lymph and adrenals are all extremely crucial things to try and heal first.  There are MANY aspects of health and we all need different approaches. But this tips are among the most common and most important.  If none of these tips health, only then I would start looking into genetics!
